Which QR code type should you pick?

Why do static codes never expire?

The codes here are static: the data is baked directly into the pattern. That means the QR works forever, with no server behind it and no tracking of who scans it. A dynamic code, by contrast, points at a redirect service so the destination can be changed and scans counted, but it dies if that service goes away or starts charging. The only limitation of static is that you cannot change where it points after the fact, so if the destination changes, just generate a fresh one.

Which error-correction level should you choose?

Error correction adds redundant data so the code still scans when part of it is dirty, damaged, or covered by a logo:

• L recovers about 7%, the densest, for clean digital use.
• M about 15%, a solid everyday default.
• Q about 25%, good for print.
• H about 30%, best when the code is small or exposed to wear.

Higher correction makes the pattern denser, so balance it against how much data you are encoding.

How do you make sure it scans reliably?

Keep high contrast between foreground and background; dark on light works best, and inverting it breaks many scanners. Leave the quiet zone (the margin) around the code intact. Favor short URLs: the less data, the simpler the pattern and the faster phones lock on. For print, size the code to roughly one tenth of the distance people will scan it from, and use the SVG so the edges stay crisp at any scale.

Your data stays private

Everything is generated client-side. The text, password, or contact details you encode are never uploaded, logged, or stored, and the tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded. That matters most for the Wi-Fi and contact types, where the code contains real credentials and personal details.
