Shoe Size Converter
This free converter switches shoe sizes between US, UK, EU and centimeters, for both men's and women's sizing, and converts directly between genders too. Type a size in any system and see every equivalent at once, plus the foot length in centimeters, all taken from Nike's published men's, women's and unisex size charts.
10 Men's US ≈ 11.5 Women's US
What is a shoe size converter?
It turns a shoe size in one system, US, UK, EU, or centimeters, into its equivalent in every other system, for both men's and women's sizing. Every number comes from one consistent source, Nike's published men's, women's and unisex charts, linked through the length of the foot.
| System | Basis | 1 full size is about |
|---|---|---|
| US | Barleycorn unit | 1/3 inch (8.5 mm) |
| UK | Barleycorn unit, different start point | 1/3 inch (8.5 mm) |
| EU | Paris point | 2/3 cm (6.7 mm) |
| Mondopoint (ISO 9407) | Foot length in millimeters | usually 5 mm steps |
The scales start counting from different points on the same ruler, which is why a US men's 9, a UK 8 and an EU 42.5 describe the same 26.2 cm foot without looking related as numbers.
How do you use it?
Enter your size. Type the number you already know.
Pick From and To. Choose the system and gender you're converting from and to; the swap button flips them.
Read the headline. The main result converts through foot length in centimeters.
Scan every size at once. Men's and women's US, UK, EU, and the foot length all update together below.
Is women's always 1.5 sizes more than men's?
In US sizing, yes. The men's and women's US scales grow by the same step, so a women's size is the men's size plus 1.5 from the smallest size to the largest: a men's 9 is a women's 10.5, a men's 12 is a women's 13.5. UK and EU numbers are close to unisex instead. On Nike's charts the same foot gets the same EU number on the men's and women's charts up to a women's 16, and the UK number differs by half a size only at the small end. That is why this converter asks for the gender only where it changes the answer.
What doesn't this converter do?
It doesn't cover kids' sizing. Children's sizes restart on a toddler scale and then restart again into a youth scale around age 7, a different system rather than an extension of adult sizing, so folding it in risked getting it wrong. It also doesn't predict fit for a specific shoe. The charts here are Nike's, other brands can run half a size apart, and width is not part of the number at all. When a shoe has its own size chart, that chart wins.
Real ways people use this
Checking what size to order from a US retailer when you only know your EU size, or the other way around. Converting a men's size to women's, or women's to men's, when a style only comes in one gender's listing. Sanity-checking a size before buying shoes as a gift. Comparing the centimeter figure against a foot measured at home for a more reliable estimate than the size number alone.
Frequently asked questions
What US shoe size is a UK 9?
On Nike's charts a UK 9 is a US men's 10 on the men's chart, or a US women's 11.5 on the women's chart. The US uses two separate numbering systems for men and women, while UK numbers are close to unisex, so check whether a US size is listed as men's or women's before converting.
How do I convert men's to women's shoe size?
Add 1.5 to the men's US size to get the women's US size, and subtract 1.5 to go back. On Nike's charts a men's 9 and a women's 10.5 both fit a 26.2 cm foot. This converter does it through foot length, so it also gives the UK, EU and centimeter equivalents for both at once.
Is women's shoe size really 1.5 sizes bigger than men's?
Yes, on standard US charts the women's number is 1.5 higher for the same foot, and the gap stays constant. Both US scales grow by the same step, about a third of an inch per full size, so the offset never drifts. Brands can still run half a size off, so a shoe's own chart wins.
Why do Nike and Adidas sizes feel different even at the same number?
Both brands publish size charts close to the industry standard, but actual fit varies by shoe model and category, sometimes by a full size within one brand's own lineup. Nike has a reputation for running narrow in some models, and Adidas sizing has been reported inconsistent across styles, so the printed number is a starting point, not a guarantee.
What is Mondopoint, and how is shoe size measured in cm?
Mondopoint is the international standard (ISO 9407) that sizes shoes by foot length and width in millimeters, usually in 5 mm steps, instead of an arbitrary scale. It is the system printed on most ski boots. This converter shows foot length in centimeters, which is not Mondopoint itself but translates cleanly across every sizing system.
How accurate is this shoe size converter?
It follows Nike's published men's, women's and unisex charts exactly, converted through foot length in centimeters, so every number on screen traces back to one consistent source. Other brands can differ by half a size, since shoe sizing isn't standardized between manufacturers, so when a shoe has its own chart, that chart wins.
Do kids' shoe sizes work the same way?
No, not in this version. Kids' sizing restarts at a small toddler scale and then restarts again into a youth scale around age 7, which makes it a genuinely different system rather than a simple extension of adult sizing. This converter covers men's and women's adult sizes only, so for children's shoes use the brand's own kids' chart.
What shoe size am I if my foot is 25 cm?
Around a US men's 7.5 or a US women's 9, since Nike's charts put both of those sizes at a 24.9 cm foot. Foot length alone doesn't account for width, so it's a close starting point rather than a guarantee. Measuring both feet in the evening, when they are slightly larger, gives the most reliable number.
Why do EU shoe sizes look so different from US sizes?
The EU system (Paris points) measures roughly two-thirds of a centimeter per size, while the US system is based on a different historical unit, about a third of an inch per size. The scales just start counting from different points, which is why a US men's 9 and an EU 42.5 describe the same foot despite looking unrelated.
Can I trust this converter for buying shoes online?
It's a reliable starting point for choosing a size to order, since it's based on standard published charts, but treat it as a guide rather than a guarantee, because fit still varies by brand and model. When a retailer publishes its own size chart for a specific shoe, that chart is more accurate than a general converter like this one.
